GRAND KNIGHT'S MESSAGE Grand Knight img

Dear Worthy Brothers,

I hope that everybody had a happy holiday season. May the Lord bring His love and good fortune for the coming year.

The next six months are very crucial for us as we have many events planned. In order to make this possible, we all need to work as a family to get the jobs done. On January 30, we will have our Pasta Night. Please contact Bob Techman at 793-4794 or Mary Bishop at 795-0134 to help out.

On February 1, our lottery begins. Please call Bill Chamberlain to help sell tickets after all weekend masses. On the same day, Charity Night at the K of C Martin County Council will be going on. They are located at 7251 S.W. Gaines Avenue in Stuart. Our Council will have a 50/50 raffle. If you are interested in attending, please call me at 798-6321. Ash Wednesday is on February 6 which makes our first Fish Fry on February 8 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Please contact Bob Laquerre to help out. February 16 is our Blitz Weekend. Please wear your K of C shirts.

On March 2, is Pentathlon. We are in need of a chairperson. Bowling and golfing should be completed by March 1. Our Communion Breakfast is on March 9 after the 9:45a.m. Mass. Please call Tony Perry for more information. The Handicapped Citizens Drive is March 28-30. A chairperson is needed for this event. Please contact me if interested.

Our Golf Tournament has been changed from April 6 to April 20. Come join us at the Village Golf Course. All proceeds will go to the Foundation of the Apostles building fund. Kevin Moore is the chairperson and can be reached at 793-2768. Please help where you can.

I would like to thank everyone for all of your hard work and dedication to the many events we sponsor. Without you, it would not be possible. If you sign up to help for an event, please make every effort to show up. It becomes extremely difficult when this does not happen. We are followers of Christ. Please let us lead by His example.

      Your Grand Knight,

      Nick Alessandria

Dear Brothers,

I hope everyone had a great Christmas holiday. It’s hard to believe it is already past and we are onto a new year! For our Council, Christmas was kicked off by the Breakfast with Santa event which was chaired by John and Mindy Simpson. The kids were able to visit with Santa (our own Joe Aprile) and everyone was treated to a delicious pancake and sausage breakfast. Thanks to Mindy and John and to all who volunteered to help them.

Our December meeting was brief, followed by a Christmas party with many delicious pot-luck dishes. Thank you Linda Dragone for coordinating the food, and many thanks to all the people that came and helped and donated Toys for Tots.

On December 22nd we had a double-header. In the morning we visited the children’s ward at Palms West Hospital. It was very emotional to see these children in that condition, especially at Christmas time, but I know we brought some smiles to their faces. Smiles were also in evidence in the afternoon when we visited the veterans at the VA hospital. I know they all enjoyed the visit and the magic show. A huge thank you to Joe and Lynn Aprile who always sacrifice to make this possible. I would definitely recommend this activity to any brother and their family who have not attended before. This is what the Knights is all about.

The first event of 2008 was on the 5th, the Basketball Free Throw, held at the RPB recreation center. Kids from different age brackets competed and the winners received trophies. A big thank you to brother Kevin Moore for a great job chairing this. It was great fun, and a good activity for the youth of our community.

The rest of 2008 is very busy. Please come out and support us in every way that you can, because we need everyone’s help, the brothers we see all the time, and the brothers we have not seen for a while. We need you all.

     Your brother,

     Tony Perry
